EASTER EGG RUN 1999

The run itself was a great success & so was the raffle , which was held

in the evening . We all got extremely drunk during the course of the

evening's events & so this web page is being produced whilst under the

influence of an extremely bad

HANGOVER

THEREFORE I make no apologies for any errors on this page !

THE WRITE UP

The day dawned overcast, despite a good weather forecast, but by

eleven o'clock it was warm and dry - perfect for a good ride!

(Ooh, yes please!!) We arrived at the Fitchet & Firkin to find only 2

bikes and 1 car (the one we got there in !) - disaster! Fortunately,

as we stood outside , more and more and more vehicles came, until

we had 3 cars and about 25 bikes ! As people were still arriving

at 11:30, we decided to delay the departure by about half an hour.

Having got everyone together and lidded-up, we set off down the

road in a huge convoy through the town. It was f***ing brilliant!!

Bikes galore , and the stares from surprised pedestrians were very

flattering to all our egos. We also managed to gain a few more

riders as we made our way to the first children's home.

On arrival at the home (whose name escapes me in this hungover

condition) everyone parked up, and eggs were brought out (we had

a whole bin-bag full !) The youngsters were happy, as not only did

they get some Easter eggs each, they also got to sit on and rev

some of the bikes. Whilst photos were being taken of the group

(which was large enough to make the "Back a bit, back a bit more"

joke applicable!), a crunch of falling bike was heard, and upon

investigation, turned out to be one of the bikes parked on the soft

grass. Fortunately, no serious damage was done, and the owner was

able to nip back to his house and facilitate repairs quick enough

to be able to rejoin the run before we reached the next home.

The next home we visited was in Knigsthorpe , & , as with the

previous home , the children received a bin bag full of Easter

eggs , & some of them sat on the bikes & revved them up .

It must be said that the marshals did a good job blocking off

the roads whilst our convoy threaded it's way accross town , &

most of the traffic that we held up   waited patiently with no

problems , however one MANIAC in a red car , who obviously

didn't have the sense of an earthworm or enough brains to

realise that an event was taking place seemed to think it would

be a good idea to go weaving in & out of the bikes . This nutter

nearly took a few riders with him , when he decided to undertake

a few of us , but the guy on the Goldwing soon thwarted his efforts

The last home we visited was at Tiffield , & yet again we handed

over a bin bag full of Easter eggs . This time though we did not

let the kids sit on the bikes & rev them up , 'cos instead a number

of the riders took the kids for a quick blast round the grounds on

the back of the bikes , which they all seemed to thoroughly enjoy .

That was the end of the run itself , & most people then went & played

whilst on their way back to the pub to get

DRUNK!

I mean to have a social drink

('cos we dont get drunk , which doesn't explain why I have a hangover)

A big thank you to all those who helped organise

the days events , with special thanks to

The Crazy Diamonds MCC , some of whom

did the marshalling for us , also Jenny John & Pete (also marshals).
